He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ephriam and Helen Marie Gerhardt Sr. (Faidley); his wife Ona Marie Caton; his son Michael D. Gerhardt; his son-in-law Edward Berkebile; and his siblings, Janet L. Gnagey and Douglas.

He is survived by: his children, Lisa A. Berkebile of Friedens, Christopher J. Gerhardt and Joanna Rispaud of Servern, MD; his daughter-in-law Brenda Gerhardt of Somerset; his grandchildren, Logan, Megan Gerhardt, Benjamin Berkebile, Douglas Berkebile (Lindsey), Colten Berkebile, Carter and Cary Gerhardt; his great grandchildren, Jenna and Jaxon Berkebile; and his brother Roger W. Gerhardt.
