He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney W. Riggs and Alberta M. Riggs (Zeltner); his wife Janet Marie Yingling; his brother S. William Riggs; and his daughter Alberta "A. J.".
He is survived by: his sons, Daniel J. Riggs of Williamsburg, VA, Aaron J. Riggs (Amanda) of Somerset and Ryan E. Riggs of Somerset; his foster son Tim Mateljan (Kelly) of Friedens; his grandchildren, Delaney, Frances, Clara, Cecilia, Cole, Anna, Nolan, Natalie, Sidney, Jack, Abigail, Alexis, Rylan, Brenna, Garrett and Riley; and his close friend Laura Dupre of Seven Springs. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
