He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Zarichnak and Olga Prokopik Zarichnak; and his brother Michael Zarichnak. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Helgert Zarichnak; and his sons, Patrick D. Zarichnak (Jen Nemeth) of Ocean City, MD. and Richard "Rick" D. Zarichnak II of Buffalo Twp.

The family suggests donations made in his name to the Pittsburgh Art Institute.
