He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralston O. Shively and Martha Shively (Fitzau); and his wife June E. Metzger Shively. He is survived by: his children, Diane Funkhouser (Bob), Thomas Shively (Cheri) and Joyce Griffith (Chuck); and his grandchildren, Rachel Nola (Greg), Aaron Funkhouser (Kristi), Beth Trputec (Frank), Adam Funkhouser (Siobhan), Mark Funkhouser (Jen), Jessica Nelson (Tom) and Ben Funkhouser.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Ross' memory to either the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
