He was predeceased by: his parent Richard Getter; his wife Margaret Getter (Thompson); and his grandsons, Richard Getter IV and Cheyenne Mobus. He is survived by: his parent Beatrice Getter (King); his children, Peggylee Jones, Brenda Getter, Donna Smith and Richard Getter Jr.; his wife Tonia Getter; his siblings, Daniel J. Getter and Evelyn Malozi; and also, Frackville Getter, Ronald Getter (Pamela), Myrtle and Bethlehem.
