He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank P. Schaffer and Christina K. Schaffer (Quiring); his granddaughters, Darlene and Darla Thompson; his siblings, Frank P. Schaffer Jr. (Jay), Chris DiEdgo (John), Andy Schaffer (Violet), Bill Schaffer (Jeanne), Doris Beedy (Paul), Paul Schaffer (Joann), Marie Morrow (Keith) and Rose Stevens (Don); and his nephew Randy Schaffer.
He is survived by: his sons, Lernerville and Raceway; his friend Jake Bingle; his wife Darlene Schaffer (Magill); his children, Jeffery Alan Schaffer (Barb) of Fombell, Cindy Dianne Thompson (Tom) of Ellwood City, Jerry Wayne Schaffer (Carol) of Ellwood City, James Ray Schaffer (Patty) of West Sunbury and Sandee Kay Fox (Ed) of Beaver Falls; his grandchildren, Laura Vignolini (Nick), Lisa Lutz (Paul), Bill Schaffer (Sarah), Tia Thompson, Tracy Jacobs (Larry), Leane Venezie (Anthony), Jeff Schaffer, Jr. (Kaylee), Tyla Bentel (Braden), Brian Schaffer (Ashley), Joanna Kriebel (Layne), Lucas Schaffer, Doug Fox, Dan Fox, Drake Fox and Delana Fox; and his brother Ed Schaffer (Nancy). He is also survived by his 21 great-grandchildren.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will not be a public service.
