He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl J. Hess and Pearl E. Hess (Hoffman); his daughter Donna Joan Eckert; and his brothers, Ray and Arthur Hess.
He is survived by: his children, Steven G. (Kristen Hess) of Waxhaw, NC and Dawn T. (Henry A. Stufflet, III); his grandchildren, Ashley (Jeffrey Gilbert), Jeremy Eckert, Brittney Stufflet, Zachary (Brianna Stufflet), Kaitlin Eckert, Nicholas Hess, Haley Stufflet, April Hess and Brody Stufflet; his great grandchildren, Toby and Avery Gilbert; his siblings, Pauline Hess, Ella Hess, John Hess and Grace (late Charles Wuestner); and his sister-in-law Dolores Hess.
