He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray W. Fickes and Hilda L. Shaffer Fickes; his son Matthew A. "Matt" Fickes; and his siblings, Ilo, Bonnie, Penny, Ray, Jay, Garnet, Roger, Ted, Rick and Mike.
He is survived by: his close friends, Tinker, Charles Smith and Buzzy Walters; his wife Veronica A. "Bonnie" Cook Fickes; his sister Darlene Hippensteel (Dave) of Shippensburg; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Fickes of Fayetteville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
