He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Grooms, Jr. and Lillian R. Grooms (Snyder); and his brothers, Jesse F. Grooms and Jay Grooms. He is survived by: his wife Connie K. Grooms (Leedy); his children, Christopher Grooms (Emily) of Harrisburg, Wesley Grooms (Regina) of Fayetteville, Jeremiah Grooms (Melissa) of Chambersburg, James Grooms (Sheryl) of McConnellsburg, Daniel Grooms (Ashley), Shawn Lehman (Connie) of Chambersburg and Matthew Lehman (Emily) of Chambersburg; and his siblings, Wesley "Bill" Grooms (Debbie) of Fayetteville, Betty Wolford (Jeffrey) of Fayetteville and Shelly Grooms of Fayetteville. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
