He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Sr. Ashby and Georgia Ashby (Winwood); his children, Nicole Caston and Phillip Aikens; and his siblings, William Ashby, Mark Wilkes and Ruthann Rogers.

He is survived by: his son Daniel Ashby of Sharon.
