He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl E. Jr. Hager and Hazel Hager (Rexroad); and his siblings, Marvin, David and Sharon Hager.

He is survived by: his children, Thomas E. Hager (Stacie) of Farmington, Jeffrey C. (Karen) of New Port News, Virginia, Todd J. (Lisa) of Farmington and Christa D. Hager (Jeff) of Friendsville, MD.; his siblings, Shirley Vanbreman (Steamer), Ralph Hager (Pauline), Faye Glisan (Leroy), Elaine Miller (Rex) and Brenda Williams (Ray); his grandchildren, Tyler, Devin, Brittnie and Lakin; and his great grandchildren, Waylon, Evi June, Colt, Bentley, Crew, Luke, Layla and Grayson. He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
