With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsie E. Merkel of Fairhope, Pennsylvania, born in Hyndman, Pennsylvania, who passed away on December 27, 2020 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William F. Twigg and Myrtle V. Twigg (Walters); her husband Arthur L. Merkel; her sons, Cecil, Roger and Charles Merkel; and her siblings, Betty Emerick, Dorothy Smith, Mary Day, Margaret Kiser, Donald, Leroy, Raymond, Robert and James Twigg.
She is survived by: her daughters, Alice F. Campbell (Robert) of Buffalo Mills, Carol Shuey (William) of Bovard, Doris Shroyer of Fairhope, Nancy Sigwalt (Bob) of Hyndman and Karen Leydig of Hyndman; and her sister Catherine Weyant of New Paris. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
