He was predeceased by: his parents, Harrison Smail and Blanche Harbaugh Smail; and his siblings, Bertha Mae Smail, Audrey Schmidt, Nancy Berry, Edward, Donald, James and Kenneth Smail.
He is survived by: his daughters, Dr. Billie Jo Godwin (Walter) and Suzi Smail; his siblings, Kathy Shedlock (Joseph), Ronald Smail, Louis Smail (Diane), Robert Smail (Kathy) and Clyde Smail; his grandson Tyler Henderson; and his close friend Ann Siciliano. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
