He was predeceased by: his parents, William Albert and Beatrice Howsare (Brant); his wife Margaret L. "Peggy" Howsare; and his siblings, Tom, Dewey, William, Harold, Carl, Robert "Whitey" Howsare, Melissa McElfesh, Carrie Leasure, Gladys Bozych, Ada Morgan, Nellie Ryan and Ethel Carbaugh.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Ann Howsare-Holmes (Don) of Moundsville, WV and Rev. Wesley Howsare (Vicki) of Glen Dale, WV; and his sister Betty Mehaffey of Chambersburg. He is also survived by five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
