He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Showalter and Mary Showalter (Snow); and his siblings, Grace Duvall, William Showalter, Stella Page, Warren Showalter, Garnett Waite, David Showalter and Dewey Showalter.
He is survived by: his wife Edna M. Showalter (Wallace); his children, Arlen C. Showalter (Patty L.), Susan D. (Clyde R. Snyder), Sharon A. (Martin M. Bakner) and Aric A. Showalter (Krista L.); his grandchildren, Shannon Showalter, Tracey Snyder, Corey Snyder, Stephanie Allen, Timothy Bakner, MaKinzie Showalter and Kassidy Showalter; and his sister Gertrude Claycomb. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
