He was predeceased by: his parents, William S. Root and Arlene June Gay Root; his wife Sandra Gunn Root; and his siblings, Joanne Jablonski and Charles Root.
He is survived by: his daughters, Michelle Heininger (Jay) of Beavercreek Ohio and Cynthia Ball (Don) of Erie; his grandchildren, Cassie Heininger, Lauren Heininger, Cody Haraburda and Nick Hower; and his great grandchild Lauren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
