He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Lapping and Betty Jones Lapping; his grandson Joseph A. Lapping; and his siblings, Donna Sue Lapping and Tom G. Lapping.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Ploss Lapping; his children, Ronald R. Lapping, Jr. (Sandy) of Columbus, OH, Andrew T. Lapping of Erie, Debra M. Root (David) of Erie and Gary W. VanMeter (Maureen) of Lake City; his grandchildren, Tina Jones, Brittany Moline of Ronald Lapping, III., Garrett VanMeter (Amy), Patrick VanMeter and Joshua Lapping; and his great grandchild Olivia Rose Moline.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church (2615 W 32nd St, Erie, PA 16506).
