He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Catherine Best (Carney); his wife Jean Best (Hammerton); his daughter Mary Catherine "Cassie" Kraus; his grandson Steven Kraus; and his siblings, Betty, Sis, Bobby and Bill.
He is survived by: his siblings, Tom Best (Nancy) and Joan Best; his children, Bruce Best (Penny) of Erie, Jean Wright of Erie and Barbara Best of Erie; and his grandchildren, Eddie Best, Chris Best (Liz) and Miles Szkoda (Ashley). He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
