He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Whalen and Genevieve Whalen (Colvin); his brothers, Thomas and Michael Whalen; and his nephews, Patrick Whalen and Francis Whalen Connelly.
He is survived by: his wife Sandy Whalen (Kownacki); and his siblings, Terrence Whalen (Cindy), Mary Whitney (Robert), Jane Connelly (Daniel) and Bridget Whalen. He is also survived by Many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
