With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Deacon Richard D. Shewman of Erie, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 3, 2025 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Shewman and Josephine Shewman (Ryba); his granddaughter Leyla Shewman; and his great-nephew Logan. He is survived by: his wife Pauline M. Shewman (Maldangesang); his children, Abraham M. Shewman (Sharon Rekemel), Fereshteh "Angela" Pialur (Mike), Michael M. Shewman (Christeen Rosales) and Nathan Shewman (Kaylee); his grandchildren, Ethan, Brandon, Leia, Mikayla, Aliyah, Malakye, Kainoah and Micah; his siblings, Kathleen Shewman (Laurie Meunier) and Edward Shewman (Jane); and his nephews, Sean Shewman, Cole Shewman and Yarrow Shewman.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Luke Church (421 E 38th St, Erie, PA 16504). A burial was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at the Erie Cemetery (2116 Chestnut St, Erie, PA 16502).
