David Heidecker Obituary
David H. Heidecker, 71, of Erie, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday December 14, 2021. He was born in Erie on April 11, 1950 a son of the late Herbert E. and Eleanor A. Bayhurst Heidecker.
Dave graduated from Cathedral Prep and earned his Bachelor of Art degree in English and his Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry from Gannon University. He worked for GTE/Verizon and with troubled youth with various organizations for many years. Most recently he served as a hospice chaplain for Hospice of Metropolitan Erie. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Ushers Club, and Cursillo. He enjoyed Professional Wrestling Rampage and stratomatic baseball and football.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine 'Katie' Heidecker; his nephew, Alexander Johnson; and two brothers, Ronald and Charles Heidecker.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sharon Bean Heidecker; one daughter, Rebecca Heidecker, of Erie; two sons, Joshua Heidecker, of Danville, PA and Daniel Heidecker (Marcia) of Erie; four grandchildren, Anthony, Connor, Kara, and Mina; one sister, Molly Johnson (Matt) of Erie; two brothers, William Heidecker (Louise) of Pittsburgh and Herb Heidecker (Fran) of Summit Twp.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
