She was predeceased by: her parents, Gerald Hanes and Lillian Hanes; her husband Douglas Gibbons; and her granddaughter Carly Payne. She is survived by: her children, John Haibach (Nathalie), Rebecca Payne (Eric) and Jerry Haibach (Julie); and her sister Dorothy Anderson. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

“I'm going to miss my only aunt in the U.S. She seemed to have a connection with my mom that cannot be explained well. Separated by years and miles they thought things at nearly the same time. Bookstores started at the same time, I could give plenty of examples. She was always an encourager to my mom. Barb was the first to wake and raring to go. She was also likely to be asleep first. She always was talking with great love to me of her children and their children when she visited me. DEA.”

“Love and the Lord's comfort to my nephews and niece on the loss of my dear sister, Barbie. She was such an amazing woman, mother and sister to me. The beautiful memories will remain in my heart forever and serve as a comfort in this great loss. We told each other we would see each other again in Heaven one day. She even bought me a coffee mug that said, "In my Father's house are many mansions, and I hope yours is next to mine." I think we will be next door neighbors in Heaven, God willing”
