He is survived by: his brother Phillip Kanish of Schuylkill Haven; his children, Sylvia Kanish of New Philadelphia, Mary Thornton of Camp Hill, Patty Newsome of Texas, Michele Kanish of Camp Hill and Joseph Kanish of Hollidaysburg; and his son-in-law Eric Thornton of Camp Hill. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
