He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara T. Hemperly (Thomas); his parents, Harry Hemperly and Lena Hemperly (Royer); and his sisters, Marguerite Light, Arlene Lear, Rita Ebersol and Anna Mae Deitzler.
He is survived by: his children, Bryan Hemperly, Craig Hemperly (Erika), Jan Strobel (Daniel) and Susan Mitchell (Michael). He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
