He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence A. Ashton and Kathleen M. Ashton (Wood); his daughter Jane; his siblings, Lester and Phyliss Bonzo; and his nephew Dale.

He is survived by: his sons, Kirk and Kevin Ashton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; along with five nieces and nephews.
