He is survived by: his parent Marie Whalen (Althoff); his wife Esther; his children, Michele Whalen of Germantown, Michael Whalen, Alice Whalen of Baldwinsville, N. Y., Mary Dillon, Dave Dillon of Little River, S. C., Margaret Meier, Art Meier of Shawboro, N. C., Pat Whalen, Janet Whalen of Liverpool, N. Y., Tim Whalen, Cherie Whalen of Auburn, Eric Whalen, Michelle Whalen of Knoxville and Scott Whalen (Lisa Maxon) of Camden, N. C.; and his brother Albert Whalen. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
