He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Thompson and Elsie Thompson (Puffer); his grandson Matthew Wood; and his siblings, Catherine Teachman, Ruth Schwabe, Hattie Swetland, Gerald Thompson and William Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis L. Goodrich; his children, Connee Balch of Painted Post, Sunnee (Harry Dow), Ruth Ann (Rudy Farrell), Theron G. (Susie Thompson), James (Wanda Thompson), Gregory Scott Thompson of Harrisburg, Joanna (Phil Wood) and Christopher (Tracey Thompson); and his sister Pat Druetto of Wellsboro. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
