It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan I. Townsend (Elderton, Pennsylvania), who passed away on March 19, 2021, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry L. Schaeffer and Elsie I. Schaeffer (Riggle); her husband Robert Leland; her son Richard L. Townsend; her parents-in-law, Robert S. and Janet Townsend (Smith); her brothers, Harry "Jun" Schaeffer and Kenneth E. Schaeffer; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Goldstrom and Ronald Townsend.
She is survived by: her daughter Debbie Jamison (Barry) of Shady Plain; her daughter-in-law Marlene Townsend of Shady Plain; her stepgrandchildren, Veronica Vukmanic (John) of Stafford, VA, John Frank Kunkle, Jr. (Nikki) of Girty, Wendy Kunkle (Joe Yusko) of Monroeville and Charlotte Hewitt (Justin) of Cranberry Twp; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Kenny, Matt, Lexi Vukmanic, Alex, Kylee, Josh Kunkle, Aidan, Logan Yusko, Marshall and Deacon Hewitt; and her siblings-in-law, Nancy Schaeffer of Burrell Twp, Vivian Schaeffer of Elderton, Barbara Goldstrom of New Kensington, Karen Townsend of Dayton and Donald Townsend (Inez) of Shelocta.
