He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesus Ruiz and Mary Mikosky (Albany); and his sister Lillian Danielovicz. He is survived by: his close friend Jeannette "Jan" E. Armstrong of Effort, PA; his daughter Romona Ruiz of Honolulu; his stepson Michael Armstrong (Samantha) of Effort, PA.; and his grandchildren, Alex Ruiz, Tyler Armstrong and Lillian Armstrong.
