He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara A. VanWhy (Wismer); his parents, Cyrenues VanWhy and Ruth VanWhy (Place); his stepfather Kenneth Transue; and his sister Myrtle Makosky.
He is survived by: his children, Constance Staples (late Lyle) of East Stroudsburg, Sandra Booth (Kevin) of Brodheadsville, Kurt Evans of East Stroudsburg, Thomas Evans (Suki) of Columbus, NJ and Wayne VanWhy of Stroudsburg; his sisters, Naomi Robbins (Stanley) of Hillsgrove and Lorraine Meckler of Nazareth; and his niece Elaine Makosky. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
