He was predeceased by: his parents, Sophia Maxwell (Woode) and Thomas Maxwell; and his brother Thomas Maxwell. He is survived by: his wife Marian Maxwell (Ampah); his children, Edward of Accra, Ghana, Harry Sarpong of Accra, Ghana, Sue Bougham of London, UK, Michelle Maxwell-Dodoo of East Stroudsburg and Maime Maxwell of Katy, TX; his siblings, Tony A. Brown, Ebenezer, Charles Quansah, Prudence Boamah, Ewurasi Sackey, Emma Adofo and Molly Brown; and his son-in-law Nee Dodoo. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
