It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Anthony Halgas of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, born in Jersey City, New Jersey, who passed away on April 5, 2021, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Rose Marie Halgas (Violante); and his parents, John Halgas and Sophie Halgas Brown (Niedzialkowski). He is survived by: his daughter Barbara Burns (William); his grandchildren, Dr. John Anthony Burns (Magdalena) of Damariscotta, ME, William Francis Burns (Alicia) of Media, PA and Tara Nylander; his great grandchildren, Alexis Emily Burns, Jack Henry Burns and Enilea Rose Burns; his half-brother Richard Brown of Jackson, NJ; and also, Sandy and Hunter. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Due to current COVID health restrictions, the funeral home and church capacity is limited and friends and family are asked to follow CDC guidelines by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
