With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Karen Smith of East Springfield, Pennsylvania, born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Karen left this world on July 9, 2024 at the age of 81, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Fies and Ruth Fies (Slesser); her husband Samuel Smith Sr.; her grandchildren, Shawn Thorhauer and Katrina Thorhauer; and her siblings, Robert Fies Jr., John Fies Sr., Ruth Ann Fies, Margaret Fuller and Beverley Kirsh.
She is survived by: her children, John Hosack Jr. (Rebecca) of East Springfield, Corinna Thorhauer (Glen) of Albion and Harold Hosack (Butch) of East Springfield; her siblings, Catherine Garlick of Albion, Sue Fies of Colorado, Mark Fies of Albion, David Fies (Karla) of Albion and Paul Fies (Paige) of Florida; and her sister-in-law Shelby Fies. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
