He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin W. Shirk and Annie Shirk (Martin); his stepmother Anna Z. Shirk (Kilmer); his children, David Shirk and Lydia Ann Brubaker; his daughter-in-law Alma Shirk; and his siblings, Aaron (Amanda), Samuel (Lydia), Benjamin (Grace), Elias (Nancy), Titus Shirk (Katie), Lydia Brubacher (Jesse), Eva Shirk and Annie Weaver (Reuben).
He is survived by: his wife Martha Eby Shirk (Kilmer); his children, Clayton Shirk (Lydia) of Delano, TN, Ada Martin (Elias) of Latham, MO, Anna Zimmerman (James) of Barnett, MO, Alvin Shirk (Rachel) of Latham, MO, Menno Shirk, Jr. (Ruth) of Latham, MO, Edwin Shirk (Annetta) of Chula, MO, Elam Shirk (Miriam) of Lublin, WI, Mahlon Shirk (Barbara) of Owen, WI, Wayne Shirk (Delores) of Centertown, MO, Mabel Burkholder (James) of Latham, MO, Martha Newswanger (Lewis) of Latham, MO, Ben Shirk (Erma), Mervin Shirk (Rhoda) and Linus Shirk (Ellen); and his son-in-law Melvin Brubaker. He is also survived by 99 grandchildren, 325 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and 62 nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at his late home on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
