He was predeceased by: his father James "Nupe" Markel. He is survived by: his mother Betty Markel (Crawford) of East Brady; his wife Sheila A. Markel (Corey); his sons, Daniel Markel and David Markel (Anna) of East Brady; his granddaughter Eliza Markel; and his siblings, James Markel (Debbie) of Millville, NJ, Robert Markel (Amy) of East Brady and Mary Ann McGuire (Robert) of Butler. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 24th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Monday, November 25th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. (707 Kellys Way, East Brady, PA 16028). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (2217 Chicora Rd, Chicora, PA 16025).
