He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Smitka and Anna Smitka (Klink); and his brother Daniel Smitka. He is survived by: his sister Carol Conway of South Bend, Indiana; his nephews, Joseph Smitka (Jennifer), Michael Smitka (Karen), Michael Radandt and Chad Radandt (Lisa); and his niece Margaret Smitka Salvin (Ben). He is also survived by six great-nieces and nephews.
