He is survived by: his parents, Henry Mertis and Gladys Mead Lamoreaux; his children, Melanie Mertis of Duryea and Joseph Mertis of Kingston; his stepmother Elizabeth Mertis; and his former wife Mary Kay Reilly Mertis.
