He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Myrtle and Joseph Francis Flaherty; his sister Myrtle L.; his wife Audrey Flaherty (Planitzer); and his friend Martha Jones.

He is survived by: his siblings, Gladys Flynn, Patricia Hoffman, Norman, Clifford and Robert Flaherty; his sons, Edward (Nancy) of Colorado, Steven (Maureen) and Mark (Cynthia) of Pittsburgh, PA.; and his grandchildren, Sean, Kevin, Amanda, Kelly and Dillon.
