We are sad to announce that on December 25, 2017, at the age of 86, Nan E. Brown of Dunmore, Pennsylvania passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Nan E. Brown to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Brown and Anna Stetz Brown Sr.; her brother Thomas Brown; and her great-nephew Ryan Mason Michalczyk. She is survived by: her sister-in-law Mary Helen Brown; her cousin Mary; her nieces, Karen Kolcharno (Chris), Eileen Brown of Morristown, NJ and Diane Michalczyk (Mark); and her nephew Michael Brown (Leah). She is also survived by eight great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ryan Mason Michalczyk Memorial Fund, care of First National Community Bank, Dunmore.

“JUDY MEYERS Ms. Brown was my high school biology teacher in the late 1960’s. From the first day in class, I knew I had a winner. Her teaching style was exacting, and she commanded respect. I admired those qualities, so often rare, in an educator. She was also obviously passionate about her subject, “the study of life,” and her enthusiasm was contagious. She made me want to learn! I will always remember Ms. Brown for that. RIP Ms. Brown. You enriched my life by being my teacher. Judy Meyers”

“Steve Ackerman here….fondly recalling Ms. Brown as a high school teacher for my 4 years in her class. She was first and foremost an educator of high integrity and passion for her skill set. Fair, but no pushover, who took the extra time and energy to break things down until one grasped the lesson. She was a credit to craft and I feel fortunate to have had her as my teacher.”
