He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Johnson and Virginia Johnson (Sampson). He is survived by: his wife Cindy; his children, George E. Johnson, Jr. and Amanda Johnson; and his grandson Stephen Timme. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters.
