He was predeceased by: his parents, George Butler and Rose Butler; his sisters, Miriam Newlon and Rosie Riley; and his brother-in-law Tom Riley.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Butler; his children, Lynn Butler (Mike Allen), Patti Callahan (Tommy), Johnny Butler and Colleen Butler; his grandson Declan Callahan; his stepgrandson Michael Allen; his siblings, Tony Butler (Lindsey) and Marcy Roche (Jesse); and his close friend Joe Redican. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
