He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Dewitt Handy and Ruby Magdaline (Smith); his wife Joan (Lenaghan); his son David Gordon; his grandson Lawrence F. III; and his brothers, William and Earl Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Lawrence F. Jr. (Virginia Yeager), Patricia (Raymond Cooley), Brian, Susan (David Calmes), Robert (Min Jung), John (Estelle) and Kevin (Maria). He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
