She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Laird and Florence Dilworth Laird; and her sister Linda Laird Fuchs. She is survived by: her sons, Richard Nelms, Jr. (Tina), Dennis Nelms (Michael) and Gregg Nelms (Carol); her siblings, Nancy Laird Nelson and Dannel Laird; and her grandchildren, Michael Nelms and Heather Nelms.

“My heart is saddened today to read of the passing of one of my Oldest and Dearest friends. We grew up together in Guthriesville, Graduated in DHS Class of 1953. Our Children Karen and Dennis were Classmates and walked to school together. Our parents were close friends and neighbors. My Mother borrowed $1.00 from her Dad to go to the doctor. She paid him back with interest 60 years later! God rest her soul! Condolences to the family!”
