He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Sobek and Helen Sobek (Nykiel); his former wife Helen Jo Sobek (Stillwagon); and his son John J. Sobek. He is survived by: his fiancé Beverly Shriver of Freedom; his brothers, Robert Sobek (Michele) of Lakewood, CO and Henry Sobek of Fayette City; his brother-in-law Michael Stillwagon (Diana) of Monongahela; his nieces and nephews, Heather Graham (Decatur) of Brooksville, FL, Michelle Stillwagon, Michael Stillwagon and Robert A. Sobek (Andrea); his aunt Mary Jane Mascella of Eastlake, OH; his grandchildren, Julian, Lilliana, Jeden Sobek, Matthew, Savannah and Decatur Graham; and also Janet Sobek of Greensburg. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and numerous cousins & friends.
