She was predeceased by: her parents, Carmen Frank DeMar and Viola Louise DeMar (Smith); her son John H. Rakes, Jr.; her grandchildren, John and Christina Rakes; and her siblings, Frank "Buddy" W. DeMar, John "Jiggs" J. DeMar and Rita Hess.
She is survived by: her son Frank Joseph Rakes; her grandchildren, Cindy, Daniel, Daphne, Fitch, Karen, Kimberly, Linda, Raven, Robert, Shannon and Tonya; her sisters, Bonita DeMar of Milford, DE and Marietta "Susie" Henrikson of Clayton, DE; her close friend Gertrude Saunders of Steelton; and also, Toni Hess, Bonnie "LuLu" Beaulieu and Bebo. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren; her four great-great grandchildren.
