He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis A. Shimo and Mary Dorothy Butler; and his brother Patrick. He is survived by: his wife Tina; his daughters, Jessica Boynton (Michael), Caron Shimo and Mary Dorothy Luchansky (John); his grandchildren, Kymberlee, Veronica, Madlyn, Bronson and Jackson; his great grandchildren, Robert and Charlotte; his siblings, Jack (Donna), Frank (Carol), Peggy Evanitsky, Betty Shimo, Joan Klein (David) and Mary Rose Daniels (Paul); and his sister-in-law Pamela Shimo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
