He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry W. Kuhns and Sara L. Kuhns (Monticue); his wife Janice E. Kuhns (Gracie); and his siblings, Thelma L. Smith and Joseph Richard "Dick" Kuhns.
He is survived by: his sons, James Jr. of Derry, Jeffrey of Bradenville, Jody (Heather) of Derry Township and Jason Kuhns (Jillian) of Derry Township; and his siblings, Burl V. (Debbie) of Ligonier, Jonathion E. (Brenda) of Whitney, Harry Dean Kuhns (Dale) of Delaware, Patricia A. Chuhran (Nick) of Greensburg and Zona G. Gracie of Latrobe. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
