He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cordes Sr. and Cecilia Cordes (Cartlan); and his sisters, Cecilia Read and Elaine Slamb. He is survived by: his wife Betty Cordes (Sockriter); his daughter Terry Cordes (Lai); his granddaughter Megan Carlson (Charles); and his stepgrandson Chee Lai. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand- nephews, great-grand nieces, and great-grand nephews.
