He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Helter and Evelyn Helter (Enck). He is survived by: his wife Kathy Helter (Crayne); his children, Kathryn R. Helter of Denver and John R. Helter II (Kate Helter) of Pittsburgh; his granddaughters, Emma and Allison; and his siblings, Marsha (Donald Campbell) of Lititz, Aileen (George Nickel) of Lititz and David (Susan Helter). He is also survived by seven nephews and their families; five great-nieces and five great-nephews.
