He was predeceased by: his spouse Hanna Thisse; his close friend Virginia Waddell; and his sons, Joseph J. Thisse, Lawrence C. Waddell and Robert Waddell (Kathy) of Fawn Grove, PA.

He is survived by: his children, Sharon A. Ballweg (Vince) of Abingdon, MD, Joanie McCoy (Tom) of Delta, PA, Chuck Stoker (Debbie) of Reisterstown, MD and Lisa Gaeth (Aaron) of Whiteford, MD.; and his sisters, Cindy Wical (Miren) of Ohio and Jenny Cimprich (James) of Ohio. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
